{māhl-zite}

In my German heritage, ‘mahlzeit’ is a welcoming remark. When my family and I sit down to a meal together, the phrase is passed around and exchanged by everyone. An invitation to sit, enjoy, and be together.

Mahlzeit means meal time…

From a young age, meal time was an opportunity to connect, share, unwind and relax with the people I loved most. Mahlzeit is a tradition that’s been carried on through my German, Donau Schwabian, roots. It’s a sentiment that my family and I share before we begin a meal as a welcoming and a blessing.

Since I can remember there has always been a job for me in the kitchen. Whether I was flipping palatschinken (an Austrian crepe) or rolling and cutting noodle dough, I learned how to prepare a warm, home-cooked and well balanced meal from Oma, Mom, Dad, Aunts and Cousins.

In 2018 I opened Mahlzeit to share my passion for food, health and well being around the community table.

At Mahlzeit, we offer a variety of services from in-home personal chefs, personalized kitchen coaching programs, hands-on cooking classes and private event catering. From one week meal packages to helping individuals develop a kitchen practice all their own we help people cultivate a healthy relationship around meal time.

XO,

Sonja
